Lost on Purpose – “We Were Kids (Nanana)”

Lost on Purpose is the Tokyo-based indie-pop project of Will Vandersomething whose track “We Were Kids (Nanana)”, taken from his 2023 EP, Baki Baki, came across our attention.

The track features pummeling guitar riffs with a 90s spirit that blends elements of garage rock with shoegaze. There’s a dreamy nature to the track which turns back the clock with blissful fuzzy guitars and some hypnotic vocals, that feels like a blend of acts such as The Dandy Warhols and Japandroids, with some of the power pop prowess of Fountains of Wayne. It makes the past sound refresihng and reinvigorating in a way that is stirring and uplifting.
