The Mothers of Lovers – “the prince is pale”

The Mothers of Lovers are a New York-based project who recently released their latest single “the prince is pale.”

The track coasts with a blend of 90s indie and slacker rock with some chill vibes and an atmosphere that feels like a youthful summer full of endless possibilities. There is some great jangly guitar work which makes for a wonderful tag team with the super laid back hushed vocals, that is produced to perfection, digging up a vibe that is undeniable infectious and a complete vibe.

Speaking further on the track, the band adds:

We wrote the instrumentals last year with no vision on it. It was just an instrumental that was meant to serve as a way of moving onto the next project, but I (Alex, bass player) kept listening to it here and there. The dead groove in the beginning just sounded so ballsy and by the time the chorus instrumentals kicked in it was like I just took hit of a cigarette— instant head rush, like sitting down for the first time in my life; it really makes you feel like you’re in the song’s world and not your own. Neil (lead singer, guitar player) wrote the lyrics on the train back home from upstate NY and got back home immediately to record what you now hear on the single. He’s great that way, Neil. A real workhorse and musician. I think my clownish behavior during a rough time inspired some of the lyrics and you might find some of Neil in there too. I won’t explain too much, that’s for you listeners to discover and listen to on your own time.
