Sunset Music Festival will enter a new era in 2027, returning to Tampa with new dates, a new concept, and a full-on rebrand as Sunset On The River.
Sunset Music Festival made a name for itself over the past two decades, with Disco Presents and Sunset Events hosting 14 editions during that span. In 2024, the festival was put on pause by its organizers as they looked to reimagine the experience for attendees. Now, after a few years of ideating, the two powerhouse promoters have announced that they’re returning to Tampa in style with the debut of SMF’s successor, Sunset On The River.
The newly announced Sunset On The River isn’t just a festival bearing a new name; it’s bringing along even more changes. The most apparent shift is the change in dates: while Sunset Music Festival was typically held on Memorial Day Weekend, its successor will take place on February 20-21, 2027.
As for the venue, the festival will now be hosted at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, which marks another modification to make it more of a boutique experience. Attendance for Sunset On The River has been intentionally limited to further Disco Presents and Sunset Events’ goal of creating a more intimate setting right next to the Hillsborough River.
While details are limited, Sunset On The River says it will bring world-class artists, immersive art installations, and curated culinary offerings for attendees. This should make for an elevated experience with a sophisticated atmosphere, which dance music lovers have continued to flock to as they mature in the scene and look for a culture-forward environment.
The lineup and ticket-on-sale information for Sunset On The River will be announced soon. Those who head to the official website and register to receive an alert once more information is available will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win backstage passes.
