Artists gracing the tracklist of Anjunadeep 16 include Spencer Brown, Dosem, Durante, Nox Vahn, Cubicolor, PROFF, anamē, Ezequiel Arias, and more.
For over two decades, Anjunadeep has been at the forefront of showcasing gorgeous soundscapes across deep house, progressive house, and other melodic styles. While the artist-driven tracks and EPs have bolstered the label’s growing discography during that time, its self-titled mixed compilation series has also been a beloved release by faithful Anjunafamily members. Last year was oddly devoid of an official entry in the catalog, but James Grant and Jody Wisternoff have come roaring back with Anjunadeep 16.
Open the door to Anjunadeep 16, and you’ll be met with 42 tracks spread across two discs. The compilation, out now across all platforms, features some of the finest artists who have called Anjunadeep home, alongside fresh faces. Each of the carefully curated tunes is dripping with everything fans have come to love from the label, from chilled, melodic moments to groove-laden ones.
It feels great to be finally sending our latest Anjunadeep compilation out into the universe. The gestation period for this one has been longer than usual for a few different reasons (not least freeing up headspace for Above & Beyond and Jody’s respective album campaigns), but we hope it’s worth the wait.
James Grant
A handful of the standouts on the first disc include anamē’s “Malibu,” Klangsberg’s “Wavelost,” and PROFF’s “Memory #3.” Others, like Tim Green’s “Sopia” and Durante’s remix of Mild Minds’ “Teardrops,” will have you finding your groove on the dancefloor, while Spencer Brown’s “Comeback Kids” and Jody Wisternoff’s “Sweetest Thing” are absolute dreams.
The second disc begins with a dose of spoken-word vocals that lead into a subtle house groove on “Clarity” by Mike Griego and David A Diaz, setting the tone for what’s to come throughout the second half of the compilation. That chill vibe continues on Amtrac’s “Love Always Had A Way,” Because of Art’s “Floating Points,” and Cubicolor’s “Wait State,” all of which add a dose of hypnotic elements into the mix along the way. If you want to go a bit deeper and darker, look no further than Ezequiel Arias‘ “Dream Controller” or Durante’s “Lunar Circuit” to get your fix; both are fantastic.
This cohesive journey is one that any Anjunafamily member will want to embark on. Explore the soundscapes on Anjunadeep 16 by listening on Spotify or your preferred platform. CD and vinyl copies of the compilation are also available for purchase.
